The study is focused on the key lessons the offshore wind industry can learn from the oil and gas industry and a comparison of the political, legal and legislative framework within POWER cluster countries. Update on the state of the offshore wind industry
POWER cluster is undertaking the study “‘Update on the state of the offshore wind industry”. This study is important as it will show how the Offshore Wind industry has changed from three years ago. In addition it will also analyse business, energy and political drivers and the effectiveness of the supply chain. The study will demonstrate the key lessons which offshore wind farm developers can learn and also look at the impact on a number of areas including the economy.
World’s second largest windfarm a “windfall” opportunity for East Anglia companies
The windfarm, which is likely to have at least 1.000 turbines, dwarfing the 30 turbine Scroby Sands windfarm off Great Yarmouth, will be build about 15 miles off the north Suffolk coast and north Suffolk coast.
John Best, chief executive of EEEGR , a POWER cluster project partner, said: “We have a unique opportunity with our geographical location, shallow water, twin ports Yarmouth and Lowestoft and established skills in offshore engineering to make the east of England the home of renewable energy”.
